292186 2004-11-15 01:07:00 I have had trouble now for weeks with my printer not working properly. I send print jobs to the printer & a popup message comes up saying "Document failed to print" Have done the troubleshooter, and all suggestions on HP website. Scans/copies OK. If I reinstall it, it works fine that same day, then nothing again after that. Any help please? weemaxcat (5900)

You have to ignore the fact that it "copies" OK, as it does not need a working connection to the PC to do that.

It does need a connection to scan an image into the PC though, and that would prove the validity of the USB connection.

292190 2004-11-15 02:16:00 OK, and I take it you've tried all the USB ports on your system?? To see if any other USB ports work?? Whats the all in one? USB 1 . 1 or USB 2?? And whats the onboard USB?? 1 . 1 or 2?? Have you got anything else USB that you know for sure works?

I think usuallly with HP (like the printer here), before you install the s/w, you unplug the printer/whatever from the USB port, install the software, then reboot, then plug the USB device back into the USB port . Is this how you installed the all in one?


And is the all in one connected directly to an onboard USB port or going through a hub?? I take it the all in one also goes by mains power as well?

I would also check device manager USB and the all in one, to make sure n othing has X or ? or ! beside it . In case something is wrong somewhere .

I see also, this printer is discontinued . So, you may not get any answers from HP about it, if u send any emails .

Really?

Interested in your experience in this Spacemannz .

HP have supported many printer products for many years after they were discontinued in my experience .

But are you saying it's different in the case of this printer for some reason?

292193 2004-11-15 02:38:00 Godfather: - scans OK & can see scanned image in PC.
Spacemannz: - have nothing else on USB. Installed as per instructions. Don't understand all you say about hubs, etc (bit new at this, sorry). Device works on mains power supply. Checked Device Manager..no problems there, all USB connections and printer shows as working OK. Tried emailing HP several times -- no response so you are probably right.
