| 293076 | 2004-11-20 17:27:00 | Hmmm.....always interesting to look back. Changed your views since then about how long before you're a burden on the sprogs? Like - how many extra years does the new one give you? Makes ya think, indeed... |

( with correction) This being the case why do we not see more of it? Metlas view,if true would beg the question, why bother. |

( with correction) >>> This being the case why do we not see more of it? Sadly, because most people try to forfill the expectations of others, rather than bother to work out what matters to them, or just don't bother at all (see unenchanted youth). These are easy options. I could be wrong, but i think true happyness, true forfillment, and all that good stuff will only happen for those who are prepared to do what they know is right for them, and unless pleasing everyone else is ones personal aim, chances are this will mean at some point going against the flow of those who have plans for us. It works for me anyway :-) Chris |

I suppose this makes sense,if so it eludes me. |

| 293082 | 2004-11-20 22:04:00 | >>the meaning of life Thomas, I believe in that saying " don't judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes". The youths today are facing a much tougher world than we did. If our politicians and leaders can't get it right, how can we expect our youth to do it. The family unit used to be a real backup, but its been trivialised. The govt decides how you bring up your children, the school system feeds them with what I consider to be very little substance and miles of psychologial drivel. Above the office door of one psychologist's door is " Do you hate your Mother?" [She was d.in.law of a friend.] Thomas, you sat with the youth and asked him lots of questions. But I think the fact he had someone who was prepared to just listen to him will have made a big difference. No-one seems to have time now to listen as we're all busy doing our own thing. Its when you are in trouble that you realise which doors seem closed and which ones are open. The moment you feel all doors are shut somehow you, yourself, become the focus and it is that stage you really need someone just to listen. Not just half an ear while you are fixing the car, preparing a meal or whatever, sit down, stop what you are doing and listen to them. The meaning of life to me means having people around me who care for me and I care for them. They are my life, my rock to lean on. Everything else is either a nice bonus or a pain in the butt, but my "base" will always see me through. Preaching is now over. |

| 293084 | 2004-11-21 06:36:00 | whoa....guess im too shallow a person to get most of that,i still see the sole reason of life as to continue the species,i cant see what difference it makes if one is happy or miserable. and pro-creating is a quite enjoyable experience in itself,im yet to find out what its like to get them thru the first few winters then die before i become a burden, but thats whats lined up next........ I was referring to the above,I believe they are your words! |
