293275 2004-11-17 10:46:00 Does one really need to raise the issue of Google scanning the body of your messages to provide targetted ads? Is this not questionable?

Besides, I'm reasonably sure Stu already has an account.

293276 2004-11-17 10:51:00 Who on earth cares if some robot reads your emails!!!

It can't think! It doesn't understand what you're saying. Would you be worried about a cat hearing a private conversation.

I could say Oh no, the PressF1 server can see my post. But that doesn't mean anything.

Sorry. I just feel strongly on the subject. Gmail rocks.

293277 2004-11-17 11:05:00 Oh my, someone who isn't versed in the pitfalls of Google!

Well, to get you off the blissful path of ignorance, do some (a lot, preferrably) reading here (google-watch.org/), and here (http:), and here (http://www.gmail-is-too-creepy.com/).

You naughty boy. You should be researching before you sign up for such treacherous things! ;)

293278 2004-11-17 11:30:00 After reading over the whole site, I still have no problem with Google.

Of course, I don't use Gmail as I have my own e-mail servers, I use it for invites and testing.

IMO Google is still by far the best search engine, and who cares if they put a 26 year cookie on your PC. If I cared I would delete the cookie - not hard to do.
