293293 2004-11-17 11:01:00 I agree agent. Black sites do tend to look older and more unprofessional. But what look is the sight trying to acheive? george12 (7)
293294 2004-11-17 11:03:00 Hi Sam
Looking good.
Using Firefox, if I hover over the "Phat Flavaz Hauraki" heading and the "Monster dream job ad" and scroll the mouse with the wheel, the header and ad start to wobble / shake - I think it is a sizing issue with the ad and the frame thingy (BTW I found it when I hit the wheel button by mistake :) )
But as I said earlier, it looks good.

293295 2004-11-17 11:05:00 Not too fond of the Tripod banner though ;) george12 (7)
293296 2004-11-17 11:09:00 Also the e-mail link, sam @ phatflavas . co . nz, seems not to exist (no shuch domain it seems). Or is that coming soon? That $50 hosting I mentioned is for a .com BTW, its $74 for .co.nz.

Or I might be on totally the wrong track...

Cheers

293297 2004-11-17 13:35:00 Sam,

The site is quite good at first look, I like the graphics and name, except hauraki, it's just doesn't stand out, or just doesn't seem readable as in when you read the name it's overlooked unless you really look at it, the name is quite important for any site, maybe experience with a bit of colour, either in Phat Flavaz or just the Hauraki bit, try and make it so that the flow of the name can be read as easy as possible.

The blue text on black background, well it's a minor issue to be honest, as long as the main text for readability isn't blue on black, or if it is, it's a bit larger than normal sized text, but it may still be a problem after long reading.

People are so fast paced on the web now, that they rarely look at it long enough to realise that it's not the right colour for it (but if it really didn't work well with the site, you'd know sooner than this), but I looked and could see all the button links clearly and knew I won't have trouble with it. You'd be surprised how much people really take notice of a complete website, unless they're specifically asked to actually "look" at the site.

I'm not a fan of frames or scrollbars, although scrolling up and down isn't too bad, I still don't like it but sometimes you just have to settle for it.

Thumbnailing of the images could be better, comments should still exist with the enlarged images, background should be consistent in colour.

W3C standards should be met, so majority of viewers will have no problem viewing.

Things that really should be looked at,

Name, the top frame, should take the whole top and maybe a slight decrease in the size, the link image buttons should be smaller, they seem quite big even at the high resolution that I run my screen at so I can only imagine that people running smaller resolutions it would dominate more.

I would look into tables and dynamic content though, but it's personal preference, you can reproduce the same frame like effects with the name staying positioned at the top while the content scrolls underneath it using CSS (Cascading StyleSheets).

Wish there was more content about Phat Flavaz Hauraki, I'm interested in what they do, so make sure there's more information, I can only assume what they do with the info provided.

If I may suggest a good free host www.100webspace.com/ check them out or for a wider choice of options, reviews, etc then the free web host database at http: if it's only for testing then it should meet your requirements and more, beats tripod and the likes.
