293527 2004-11-18 08:29:00 Maybe its a P4 thing :D

My celery laptop's (256MB) available memory drops incredibly low upon starting Windows XP Home... Levels out to about 100MB free.

XPs just not made to run well on 256MB - chuck another stick in if your playing games.

293529 2004-11-18 08:39:00 If your running the latest game you will notice major disk swapping (paging) as the machine runs out of physical memory. HadO (796)
293530 2004-11-18 09:15:00 i got around 800megs free - but thats when im doing nothing ApeNz (4220)

293532 2004-11-18 11:22:00 umm. Ape.

i think you missunderstood. The question was "whats the problem with my RAM". not "here's your chance to blow your own trumpet".

293533 2004-11-18 11:38:00 What?

Pffft.

I have 32768MB of RAM (64MB shared with video, so 32704MB really). That much and Windows STILL won't let me have no swap file :(.

Beat that guys. And my CPU isn't even released to the public yet! It's a Pentium 6, 12.8GHz, with 3200MHz FSB and 16x Multiplier.

But I'm thinking of swapping the CPU for an AMD 3000+. I bet it would outperform it :p. Sorry Prescott. And maybe another stick of RAM... But will the currently available DDR533 slow down my DDR1600 @ 800Mhz?

Don't worry I won't let this post turn into this post (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz).

And by the way, the solution to all problems is more RAM. Stick in another stick if you're worried where you're RAM is gone.

Cheers
