| 293688 | 2004-11-19 00:34:00 | Not quite true. I never knew I had one. I have never used one. I installed XP myself from an oem disk if that tells you anything. Maybe the oem disk has an auto password or something. I always thought it was nothing, but when I log out, and try and log in, it does not work. I have never logged out before, so it was the first time today, after about 1 year that i have tried using a password. I need to find my password so i can set my linux server rights. If i restart, the computer just starts up, goes straight into windows. There is only 1 account, and it has admin priviliges. Anywone want to help me find my password? |

| 293690 | 2004-11-19 01:37:00 | I thought XP didnt set a password for the user? It sets one for the admin, but when you setup the first account it doesnt set a password. Well this is the case with all windows installations ive done. Have you tryed no password? | Pete O'Neil (250) | ||
| 293691 | 2004-11-19 04:07:00 | If it puts up a "username/password" box, try using the Cancel button. That will work if there is no password. The Microsoft methods rely on an Adminstrator who hasn't forgotten his password,or a "user" who has made a floppy. :D |
