293761 2004-11-19 10:32:00 I think Bill owns the computers at the school?

293762 2004-11-19 10:49:00 Get a PC :D

I'm just joking. You just need to use a POP3 client, rather than the webmail. Any Mac e-mail client should be able to do the trick, there are many to choose from. I would safely bet that some form of e-mail program is installed on our Mac already.

Refer to Google for the server details, although I can predict:

pop3.gmail.com
smtp.gmail.com

Of course, it could be .google.com, or .gmail.google.com.

Hth Cheers George
Off to play PC games ;)

293766 2004-11-19 12:27:00 I'm not a mac man, the only way I can think of getting Firefox on there is using a Windows PC, upload the installer to my network share and installing from there.

Muahaha, for all you other students out there on a sizeable school network, make a batch file with the following:

net send (username, computer name or ip of victim) (text goes here)

To get the user name of the sender:

nbtstat -a (computer name or IP)

They want to disable it but that service is used for the UPS.

293767 2004-11-19 12:31:00 It's disabled at our school. After the netsend epidemic (offensive messages to 255.255.255.255). Very effective.

293768 2004-11-19 18:24:00 pop.gmail.com
smtp.gmail.com

Plus secure settings need to be in place - it will require to read Gmail's settings page to tell you exactly what you need, as it isn't that simple (as I found out).

293769 2004-11-19 18:26:00 I'm quite surprised that you can install things and run batch files. It's usually disabled in school networks, to stop students wrecking havoc by installing dodgy programs/games. somebody (208)
