293856 2004-11-19 06:24:00 ive just had a windows xp professional editional operating system running on my computer for the last few weeks. however, as it is only a trial version, im expected to buy a 'proper' copy if i want to continue with it.

trouble is, i dont want to go formatting my hard drive, so is there anyway that I can change the product key to that of the one i just bought and have it fully activated for use in the long run without my having to reinstall everything again?

thank you

293857 2004-11-19 06:28:00 I doubt it. Trial version keys would most probably be different from OEM and retail keys. Spacemannz (808)

There are official and unnoficial ways to do this.

I am not "personally" sure how this will behave with activation, some one may enlighten us.

Rock is one, it is quiet good.

How does the system behave when you activate it after?
