294541 2004-11-21 04:24:00 Hi, I run XP SP2 and notice that doing AVG or Ad-Aware scans take extraordinarally long when they hit this directory-
C\Documents + Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp. Internet Files\Content.IE5\ and then I wait for an hour or more as there are over 40 folders to scan. I only saw them under Custom Scan with AVG but when I try to find these folders under windows all I can find is
C\Windows\Temp\Temp. Internet Files\Content.IE5\ and then only 4 folders and an Index.dat file.
My question is, can I Un-Hide these 40-odd folders and safely delete them or are they hidden so I cant do that?
Thanks for your help,
Glenn

294542 2004-11-21 04:29:00 Just try a program like ccleaner. http://www.ccleaner.com install and run it.

That'll get rid of most of whats in the temp folder/s. Then AVG may not take so long when it gets to the folders there.

294544 2004-11-26 10:13:00 Does the program clean out the hidden cache of temp files, that you don't usually access? I have been getting up and running, a friends puter and it has heaps of hidden ie temp files in a folder that I can't delete, so was wondering if this program will do it, or I have to go to the trick I used awhile ago using smtdrv. supergran (108)
