| 294502 | 2004-11-21 02:20:00 | Ok here's my first moan about AVG's new version. Have just downloaded it. I was able to send my mail but when I click on Send/Recieve (IncrediMail) I get a message which says ..... Authorization for account pop.xtra.co.nz failed. Then under details it says.... -ERR Cannot connect to the host. It was working fine this morning before I downloaded AVG 7.0. Also the new AVG e-mail scanner box that pops up at the bottom by the clock says ....... Connecting to mta.xtra.co.nz. What's the mta bit????? Any ideas what to do next? Also I'd appreciate any advice in simple language please as I'm pretty new to all this stuff. Thanks. |

Go to "Personal Email Scanner" click on "Properties" again, and add a new server "pop3.yourisp.net.nz", and then do the same to make a new "smtp.yourisp.net.nz". I deleted the two old entries that were set up automatically on installation, and it is now sending and receiving the mail happily. Maybe I should stick to Linux, but a bit of mud wrestling with 'doze is probably good for the constitution now and again. |

| 294507 | 2004-11-21 05:01:00 | I don't have the option to add another it just says POP3 and STMP outgoing. Back to the drawing board. The AVG E-mail scanner is driving me mad, as it's popping up every minute for some reason. | Fiwi (6429) | ||

Try disabling the automatic server selection, then all should go quite easily . | 294510 | 2004-11-21 06:01:00 | I found a very comprehensive manual on the grisoft website - haven't read it in full yet as I haven't had time to download v7, but a good look at the manual may help. | Chris Randal (521) | ||
| 294511 | 2004-11-21 07:27:00 | I give up. After all these years, looks like I'll have to dump AVG. Pity they are giving Version 6.0 the bums rush, I've never had any problem with that. I might change to the free Antivir http://www.free-av.com/ as a lot of people have given it the thumbs up. | Fiwi (6429) | ||
