294257 2004-11-20 07:48:00 Hi,
Are these cards any good? After looking at FAQ 666 i see the card ranks ok on the worst to best list. Is it ok having a tv tuner all in one?
I need to buy a tuner, and a new graphics card to replace my old geforce4 mx440
I have xp home
P4 2.4 ghz
1gb ram
agp 4x

Is the maker of the card ok, or can anyone recommed something better?
Retail price is just under $500
Thanks for feedback....

294259 2004-11-20 08:33:00 are you planning on gettting a new motherboard as well - agp 8x will not work with agp 4x - totaly different everything ApeNz (4220)
294260 2004-11-20 08:38:00 From what i've been told most 8xagp cards will work in a 4xagp pc, with only minimal difference in function...
So I hadn't planned on it...

294261 2004-11-20 08:39:00 what are you on about ApeNZ, almost all agp8x cards are fully backwards compatible with agp4x, the slot is the same, trust me it works, i currently run 2 different agp8x cards in 2 different agp4x motherboards with no problems whatsoever lagbort (5041)

It is quite unusual for an AGP 8x card to not work in a 4x slot. Usually they'll work just fine, just at 4x speed rather than the possible 8x (if combined with the 8x slot).

That's what I thought. Would you recommend the card above? Or would you buy a tv tuner seperate from the graphics card?
Cant figure out what graphics card to buy.
Any opinion around about $300 retail?
Cheers!

294265 2004-11-20 08:57:00 Well I think I'm clear on the 4x and the 8x now. Yah!
What would be the best deal for a graph card around $300-400, if I got the tv tuner seperate? Is it best to get it seperate? :-)

294266 2004-11-20 08:57:00 if it was me i would spend $300 on a good graphics card then save up extra to get the tv tuner, but it all depends on what your main use is, gaming or tv capture or what? lagbort (5041)
