Seems to be taking a long time to fix it and last time I looked they were still fixing it. Compare that to a product that hasn't needed fixed, only improved to allow easier access to a wider cross section of users and most of that has been done without the trillions of minions on high salaries. |

It is more secure because we stand behind it, we fixed it, because we built it. Nobody ever knows who built open-source software," Who are they going to sue if they dont know who wrote it.....I think your going to get sued chill, you have edited linux and you never know, you might have breached a "patent"....haha Also another error he made... "We think our..." Assumption is the mother of all [insert word of your choice here] ups! |

| 294160 | 2004-11-20 13:52:00 | Minkz, BEGINS???????????????????????????????????? This is just another Micro$cam breach of the Geneva convention. With MORE "Dirty Weapons" in a 10 year plus, old war, that has run hot and cold, and seen more and more filthy tactics from Micro$cam, as the stakes get higher. D. |

| 294161 | 2004-11-20 19:16:00 | Personally the only thing i see holding back Linux for the masses are the slightly flawed distributions, such as SuSE 9.1 personal, where so much of the end-user stuff is there, but it's all a big tease. Critical bits that are needed to make the feature actually work, aren't actually there. An example is the ease that a fax can be assembled simply by clicking on a fax number in the address book. Very tidy, but will it send? No. Instead all one gets is this: Sending to fax using: /usr/bin/fax NAME='xxxxx' DEV='modem' PAGE=a4 FROM='xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' send 'xxxxxxx' '/tmp/kde-xxxxx/kdeprintfax_MaxrAp6c' /bin/sh: line 1: /usr/bin/fax: No such file or directory. Similar problems exsist with such things as samba client, and the issues getting something as basic as a USB mouse to work are mentioned here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) I've said before that i found it hard to see how SuSE 9.1 could fit on one CD. I understand now how this was done. I have higher expectations on a ready assembled distribution, and someone trying Linux for the first time certainly would expect it all to work! A critisism i had of 'doze many years ago, was i felt it was all show, but in 'doze case not stable enough. Now it seems that some distributions are a little hurried to get every bell and whistle out there, without checking it's all good first. The shortage of space on a CD may account for the fact that SuSE 9.2 Live CD is in fact a DVD. Hopefully it's a bit more complete :-) Chris |
