| 294489 | 2004-11-21 05:35:00 | I think I can get a quicker answer here than waiting for Telecom to answer! Here goes. Having changed from J/Stream Starter to Explorer which supposedly increases to 256k I can't see any improvement.I have done a bandwidth check with the following results. 63kbps.--- 7.8 Kbytes /sec & screen icon shows data(send /receive) is 320000bps. Do I have the relative speed for J/Stream Explorer. I have suspicions that Telecom increased the speed of J/Stream Starter some time ago hence the lack now of a noticeable speed increase.Comments anyone? | amyes5 (2773) | ||

Usually you have to wait till the end of your billing month before you are switched over. You should theoretically download at 32KB/s or thereabouts on 256k. I normally get 32KB/s. |

Try downloading from a large international site, or better yet a NZ site on a large pipe (perhaps http://tucows.inspire.net.nz) and see what sort of speed you get. > I have > suspicions that Telecom increased the speed of > J/Stream Starter some time ago hence the lack now of > a noticeable speed increase. Not true. Have you tried power cycling your modem/router since the plan was supposed to change so it renegotiates the line? And also check as mentioned to see if you have actually changed. |

I've checked my account at telecom & it says cant give me J/S starter figures & won't let me log in to other jetstream plan usge figs | amyes5 (2773) | ||

If it's External USB, turn it off and on, and reboot your PC . If it's Internal PCI, reboot your PC . > checked my account at telecom & it says cant give me > J/S starter figures & won't let me log in to other > jetstream plan usge figs Try logging into: . telecom . co . nz/usage" target="_blank">www . telecom . co . nz - it'll tell you what plan you are on, and what you'll be on next billing cycle . |

Any plan that you pay Telecom for has to have access to the usage meter - they bill you for the bandwidth so they are required to provide the tool. |
