294317 2004-11-20 21:26:00 I am so lucky to live in part of NZ where i can get both saturn lines or telecom lines...........

the strange thing is that nither provider can give me what i want. if I was in a telecom only zone it would be easy.

I currently have phone and TV with saturn.

I want high speed internet.

I dont want to pay extra data charges.

I dont want to change my phone number.

saturn have ADSL on the website as a service you can get, they cant give it to me because i and on saturn phone lines and i need to be on telecome phone lines to get ADSL.

telecom wont give me ADSL billed through saturn because i live in a saturn cable zone.

saturn will take telecom customers and let you keep your telecom phone number, telecom wont do the same for the other way around.

now i know that all of that reads like one of those logic problems but it comes down to the fact that to get the internet connection that i want i have to change phone numbers. i dont care about changing company, i just want the same phone number.

now if i lived in levin or some such then telecome would provide me with a phone line and give me ADSL over it and let be bill it with either telecom or saturn. i could switch back and fourth between then every few months and keep the same number.

where is the logic in the fact that i cant get saturn ASDL becasue i live in a saturn cabe zone !!??!!?!?!?

294320 2004-11-21 04:23:00 so are telecom going to give you free data??????? Have a look at telstras packages I have 5 GB for $85.90 or something similar. That includes my phone and all the addons such as call minder and fax line etc.
I don't have to pay telecom $40.00 approx for line charges - seems good to me.

and when you go over the 5GB they charge you a 15c per Mb or some such.

I dont expect to go over 5GB but i also dont want to pay for it if i do.

ADSL has a plan that gives 10GB and then speed linits you. this is what i want, but i cant get it through saturn, because i am in a saturn cable zone.

Purely out of curiosity, what are you pulling in that goes over 5 G - or is it online gaming ?

Well so far this month I have clocked over 20GB and that is just on JetStart at 128Kb connection. I do all sorts online stuff. Web surfing, streaming video and audio, downloads, updates, online gaming, the list goes on but I always get well up over 5GB and usually over 10GB as well.

well you should weigh up whats the more important and go with that. Thats the thing about different companies. They all offer something different.
Can't you keep your same phone # if you go over from Saturn? I know if you shift from Telecom to TelstraClear, you can keep the same # Have you asked Saturn ~ or ~ Telecom?

294326 2004-11-21 08:06:00 Why don't you talk to Telstra regarding their 10GB plan or maybe they have a plan for bulk users.
Can't hurt to ask.
