294183 2004-11-20 02:50:00 I am using a Windows Xp Pro Host and a Windows 98 Guest
Windows Xp Pro can see the shares of the Guest but no the other way around

294184 2004-11-20 02:56:00 98 isnt the easiest os to network. You have to install printer/file sharing then go into the network icon and configure it there, if u want it to get on the net.

And if u have a firewall enabled on XP you haveta allow the 98 to get to the shared folder.

294185 2004-11-20 03:00:00 Firewall is not enabled and remember that Xp can see the 98 shares thewhiz (4002)
294186 2004-11-20 03:03:00 And are u using ethernet/crossover, hub or wireless to network the two?? Spacemannz (808)
294187 2004-11-20 03:08:00 Oops i forgot to say that this is with Vmware Workstation :8} thewhiz (4002)
294188 2004-11-20 03:11:00 But theyre running on a version of windows arent they??

VMware is just a program isnt it

294189 2004-11-20 03:24:00 VMware is a Virtual Machine Program Win98 is running inside it thewhiz (4002)
294190 2004-11-20 04:01:00 Dont know then. Never used Vmware. I see no point in using it when 98 and XP can be networked without installing it in the first place. Spacemannz (808)

Spacemannz - VMWare is a virtual machine. Keyword here is virtual - there is no Win98 box here, just one computer running windows XP with a Virtual computer (VMWare) running Windows 98 as its OS. The idea here is that you need to network (using virtual NICs) the two "computers" (the physical one and the virtual one) together so files etc. can be transferred as if they were two physical machines.
