294954 2004-11-22 09:09:00 What do you mean "hard wired"? What file system have you got NTFS or FAT. It is possible to shrink the size of one partition and expand the other. The ease and risk depends on the software used. PaulD (232)
294955 2004-11-22 09:15:00 I think it is FATS. They tried increasing the size of C when this new HD was used to replace the original 2G HD, but with little success. PJKing (2630)
294956 2004-11-22 09:32:00 Reasons for that may be outlined in this thread tinyurl.com
You may not need to keep C: as FAT16 if you don't need the IBM recovery disk.

294957 2004-11-22 09:45:00 Thanks that was extremely interesting - a) how do you know which FATS you have b) how do you switch from 16 to 32 c) anybody got any views on the turning off the hibernation PJKing (2630)

294960 2004-11-22 10:32:00 I have all the space I want.....it is just in the wrong place! PJKing (2630)
294961 2004-11-22 10:41:00 Beama, I have the identical problem. I will be watching this with interest. So far I have installed a second hand HDD but I really want to remove the partition on the original drive C/D and dedicate that drive to the O/S etc and use the new one for storage. But I don't want to format it and have to reinstall all the stuff on it. I am hoping that someone will come up with a sensible solution for us. There seem to be some people who don't have good comprehension skills who jump in with replies which are inappropriate. However, if we wait there are some who will come up with the goods.
Cheers,
Rob
