295377 2004-11-23 07:51:00 I believe it is a well documented flaw in xp that users with limited accounts will have trouble running some applications that require greater access than the limited account offers, the only solution being to give the limited user an admin user/pass to "run as" (you can even set the shortcut to present the run as dialogue automatically), however this solution undermines the reason for giving a user limited access in the first place. Is there any way to have a shortcut/batch file or the like that automatically runs programs as another user transparently in the background and not divulging the password to the user?? kingnh (5559)
295378 2004-11-24 01:53:00 The *nix "suid" does exactly that. It is "deprecated" because it has major security implications. Many programmes allow execution of commands from inside them, and if the programme is being run as root ("administrator") there is a major problem.

MS might have not known about this and allowed it. I don't know ... this is just a bump to see if anyone does know. :D
