I had some issues a while ago but today has been very bad - ended up using alternative DNS servers as I could access nothing for long periods of time. I was pinging the main server for about half an hour with no response - I changed to another ISP's servers and no problems at all... new jetstream flooding the servers? grr... |

| 295259 | 2004-11-23 02:32:00 | Pinging a server loads it. That is why they don't respond to pings. :D The DNS server is there to provide name server information. You shouldn't ping any host for "half an hour". |

That is why I am using orcon DNS servers instead of Xtra's as I have giving up on there a few days ago, as they where slow/too busy And this is not the only problem Xtra is having today, over in east Auckland where I am, I have not had Xtra JetSteam all day in till about 5 mins ago when I was able to connect to there network again. |

| 295264 | 2004-11-23 04:51:00 | Same here, but I am on Orcon. When I was on Xtra I found the whole connection (especially DNS) to be unreliable, but now have no problems whatsoever. But don't all switch to Orcon's servers, or they'll get overloaded too! Just randomly pick an ISP other than XTRA and use their DNS :). Cheers George |
