295454 2004-11-23 09:58:00 Maybe, you could also try at a lower speed, if your low on memory it could be possible that it can't cache out the files to be burnt, just a guess though. It could also be the CDR media, a change of brand might do the trick (quality ca even vary within a batch).

Have you tried it with test burn speed on? Still 16x isn't exactly stellar is it.

And do a defrag, and how much free disk space do you have?

Nero likes a big "open space" as opposed to a lot of "little free bits" check that the page file is set auto aand check that the listed maximum is not greater than available disk space this can also create issues.

nero states it needs around 5+gb free Hdd space if your store images to burn from even on auto create proceses.

256 is surly light for a dvd burner. if you hve many little applications zone alarm avg sound systems working in the background you may need to shut them down whilst burning.

295456 2004-11-23 19:17:00 I have 82% free space on my 80gb hard drive.
i have the page file set to 4gb
the cds i am using are SKC.
i am going to try reinstalling nero now but it is not just nero with the problem media player will not burn aswel. it converts the files then just sits there. you can here the drive start spinning then it stops then spins and stops etc etc
but the burn % does not rise up and soon it will not let me open the drive

295459 2004-11-23 19:38:00 What version of Windows Media Player is installed Help_me . 9 or 10??

Also go to control panel / admin tools/services . Go to Imapi cd burning . Then click on it General . Is this on started, or disabled . I know WMP 10 needs this started, for it to burn or even recognise a burner, so u can burn in WMP 10 .

Also, Imapi cd burning ISN'T needed if u use something like Nero, or Cd Creator/DirectCD . I've disabled it, its annoying . Try disabling it, then try Nero .

See what happens . They could be conflicting with each other . BUT then if u use WMP 10, as above, if Imapi cd burning has been disabled, burning in WMP 10 won't work .

295461 2004-11-23 19:49:00 Now when i try to burn a regular cd of audio or even data

OK . When u said the above . Do you mean u were trying to burn MP3's from the hard drive to make an audio cd??

Or were u trying to copy a music cd as is?? from cd to cd??

295462 2004-11-23 19:51:00 Another thing to try is to, ignore errors or try an error correction setting, probably in Nero tools/options/preferences . Sorry I don't have Nero exprees, so I'm just guessing again .

Try Spacemanzz's suggestion and combo's of the above .

It shouldn't be that hard though?? Have you tried burning some ordinary text files and word doc's?
