295476 2004-11-23 19:32:00 Recently various sites visited (eg About.com) pop up a dialogue box which offers a "blank cgi file" to open or save.
Quite persistent on some sites. What is it all about? Saerching PressF1 doesn't exactly explain it in simple newbie talk...

Now the d..n thing is opening on my posting page as I am typing this.

XPHome SP2

Thanks

295477 2004-11-23 19:40:00 Most probably an ad or even something with spyware. Just close it and put the popup stopper on, if its off. Spacemannz (808)

295479 2004-11-23 23:08:00 Thanks for advice . . . I found this in Opera help which may have a bearing!

Does Opera support Active Server Pages (ASP)?

Platform: All platforms

Active Server Pages (ASP) is a scripting language similar to Common Gateway Interface (CGI) . ASP scripts are processed by Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) and the result is sent to the browser as a HTML file (or image or binary file depending on what the script does) . The " . asp" extension isn't used by Opera at all, it's the server that needs it to decide what to do .

Opera 7 and higher should support ASP . Please note that there may still be problems, resulting from the fact that the server checks for Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator and sends different pages based on the results .

It seems to have vanished with turning off popups . Don't see any result from spyware etc checking .

Thanks for assistance .
