295269 2004-11-23 03:34:00 Hi

Can anyone tell me what the story is with this site when it connects with ad.doubleclick.net and acvsrv.mediaonenetwork.net? What is acually happening?

Every time I access a page on this site there are connections made with these two sites. I have been able to block them both through the use of my firewall - doubleclick swaps IP addresses if you do this, so it is a little trickier than acvsrv etc.

With acvsrv blocked, there is no appreciable effect on the PressF1 experience (!), but doubleclick slows the site up to the extent that it is almost unusable. There are no cookies named for either site, and neither Spybot nor Adaware show up any nasties.

It is one of those little irritations in life, that you have no control over the traffic from your own computer when you access a website... Sigh...

295270 2004-11-23 03:39:00 As mentioned in another post acvs is for pics on this site or something, when u see it loading down the bottom of the browser.

Cant see ad.doubleclick.net from here.

295271 2004-11-23 03:47:00 OOPs. Sorry, I have just answered my own question by doing a site search - should have done it first before posting :8}

It appears as though this has been asked before and I may upset the owners of this site by blocking their ads in this way...

When I did the search, the results were served up in a very peculiar way with yellow highlighting between words, and lots of html stuff. Does anyone else get this on a search? I tried both Firefox and IE (gag) and got the same behaviour. Maybe I was being punished.

Once again, I WILL REMEMBER TO SEARCH FIRST, I WILL REMEMBER TO SEARCH FIRST .... mumble mumble...

295272 2004-11-23 04:33:00 I saw (and reported) the"yellow spaces" quite a while ago, and have seen it once or twice recently. It's not you.:D Graham L (2)
295273 2004-11-23 04:58:00 Thanks Graham! Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you :p John H (8)
295274 2004-11-23 11:59:00 I blocked these, unfortunately they were sucking my bandwidth up due to them not being able to completely load from those site, my browser just continued trying to download from them and not getting anything back, maybe busy, timing out?, I could never get my browser to say it was done with the page and it continually kept trying to get something back from them. So in the end, I just blocked them.

I see why google ads seem to be more popular with people.
