1359511 2013-11-11 23:16:00 One way to test the UPS's I guess

Power-cuts-across-North-Island (www.stuff.co.nz) -Stuff Article

What we do as one of our tests is simulate a line fault. We cause one of the lines to trip to make sure the protection will work.

"We were running a lot of power from the South Island to the North Island ... Something has happened with a malfunction."

Ya Think ? :D

1359517 2013-11-12 05:18:00 Petone was gone burger, but not waiwhetu. Weird, seems it was only in certain areas. Only sections of the Hutt were out apparently as well, guess it may be the way the power grid works.

Guess the "system disturbance test" (www.3news.co.nz) was a failure then -- Hayward's goes boom boom

That would be to match the car lights in Glen Eden. A high density dim and mis-aimed car lighting area. Prefect feels right at home there with his Lucas moonlight driving kit. ;)

1359519 2013-11-12 18:52:00 We lost power in our part of Upper Hutt. There were some tree men working over the road, at first I thought they'd clipped the power lines.

At least it gave a bit of a test of my home brewed Genius modem UPS, which is supposed to keep the phones going for 3 days or so.
