1359076 2013-11-07 21:22:00 A friend has a Nokia 610 Lumina Cellphone that has stopped working. Well to be more precise only the microphone has become muted and everything else I’m told works.

Now it’s still under guarantee, but the repair shop has declared the problem water damage and hence no guarantee.

I know most cellphones have an indicator that tells you if the phone has been wet, so what I’d like to know is where it’s hidden in this model phone and what colour it should be.

There is a White spot under the battery which looks suspiciously like what I’m looking for but I can’t find out what colour it should be for normal and what colour for water damaged.

Anyone any ideas? Google has been of no help. :thanks

1359077 2013-11-07 22:50:00 Probably a sticker where the battery is. Looks like some turn red if wet (www.instructables.com)

Altho none of the 3 cells here have any stickers (well near the battery anyway)

1359078 2013-11-07 23:56:00 Thanks Speedy, that link was helpful. Although the phone shown was Motorola and the phone in question is Nokia I have this feeling that the technology may be the same? B.M. (505)

I would doubt that as they are two different companies who have both developed many of their own patents around cell phone technology.

1359080 2013-11-08 00:40:00 If its similar to the 920 the water damage indicator is in the sim tray / slot. (www.facebook.com)

If it is wet, it looks like some people have had success putting it in a container with dry rice for a few days.

As it says for the above:

Water Damage Indicator is the sticker below the IMEI sticker on this tray. White indicates no water damage.
