| 1358718 | 2013-11-04 08:00:00 | Daughter's mobile phone is dead (just 1year 6months old) , bought from Parallel imported. Looks like warranty replacement or repair is out. What phone do you guys recommend? Have a very tight budget, though. Preferrably under $300. |

| 1358720 | 2013-11-04 09:19:00 | In that price range, go the HTC One V. I'm going to strongly disagree with you chill, this is the phone I have. Absolutely no official upgrade path from ICS. Oh and it's very sluggish. |

| 1358722 | 2013-11-04 09:46:00 | What about this Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini which is slightly over the $300 mark? You did say under. For that sort of money you should look at the lumia 520 from nokia. Wp8 not android. Solid and boring phone, that runs rings around any sub $300 android phone I have used. |

| 1358723 | 2013-11-04 22:30:00 | Yes, I did say under $300. But if I there's no other better options, stretching another $10 ~ $20 should still be acceptable. BTW, I did a factory reset of this phone, after resetting, it asks for PIN Code. Where do I get the PIN? |

Looks like warranty replacement or repair is out./QUOTE] Why are you looking to buy??? That is not even a half-reasonable life-span for a mobile phone, so unless your daughter killed it via an impact test or water trial, you should be going back to the Retailer and asking for a replacement. Provided it was a self-induced 'end of life' experience, not a user-assisted departure, then the CGA is on your side and they should replace it at no charge. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

The original post said it was a Parallel import, so the local repair agents don't have to touch them. They are well within their rights to refuse. The other option is for the seller to send it back to where it was came from originally, this can sometimes take months - so the question needs to be asked: because it was brought cheap in the first place ( Parallel imported) do you want to wait for possible months to have it fixed. ? Some people these days are lost if their phone is gone for a few days, let alone months ;) |

| 1358727 | 2013-11-05 04:05:00 | Local repair agents don't have to, but the seller is still obliged under the CGA to handle all of that for you, they're not allowed to "palm off" their responsibility elsewhere. Also, they're required to have it repaired or replaced "Within a reasonable timeframe". Months is not reasonable and you'd be entitled to your money back or similar. www.consumer.org.nz Also, for a phone for $300, you're never going to get "The latest and greatest", it's part of buying a cheaper phone. No upgrade path? Comes with only spending a low amount on a phone... Difference between this vs an iPhone? 4x the price... But yeah for that money you get free OS upgrades. |
