Coral Islands are, by definition, made of coral which is a living organisam. They will not be drowned as they continue to grow albeit slowly. The exception being one of the Marshal Islands (I think) which has been killed by the building of an airstrip in WW2. |

It looks like you're basically just as bad as the interviewer on Radio Live who seemed to have a personal vendetta against the poor bloke. Explain: Why should we believe in Global Warming when this planet already went through an "Ice Age" and survived (Proving that wild fluctuations in the earth occur, and that it by and large looks after itself). Because I'm just as skeptical as Colin at this point, and most of the forum members here. It just looks like another tax, with very little substance, to me. He hasn't said he doesn't believe in climate change, he says that he believes human activity is not responsible, rather it is due to planets perambulating around the solar system :crying:D |

It started with a chap Mann and a few followers announcing that the Earths Surface Temperature had risen 0.8°C in the 20th Century, and they forecast from a heap of botched and fabricated figures that it would rise another 1.1°C in the 21st Century. Big deal, considered alongside of the Earths largest recorded temperature change in one place over a 24-hour period which occurred on January 15, 1972 in Loma, Montana, when the temperature rose from −54 to 49 °F (−47.8 to 9.4 °C). I must confess a swing of 57.2°C in a 24hr period would have got my attention, not to mention that of a fair bit of ice, but I dont remember it even being reported over here. Even better, the Earth is still going around and that little incident has had no lasting effect. :clap Clearly, the Greens and the Green Party are just another religion that relies on indoctrination, not indisputable fact, and regretfully our politicians are suckers who agree with anything to keep their nose in the trough. |

I believe he said "It could be", but he agreed he didn't know, which shows more integrity than most, including hecklers here. |

I think you are losing the plot....where did I say anything about a tax ?????????????????????? "In November 2013 Craig said humans were not to blame for climate change, instead pointing to sunspots and "the circulation of planets".[27" en.wikipedia.org www.3news.co.nz |

| 1359725 | 2013-11-17 21:50:00 | The original purpose of this thread was not to debate the ins and outs and beliefs of climate change/global warming, but to highlight the fact that in this age of science and technology upon which we all depend, our politicians and prospective politicians are woefully ignorant of basic science and maths. They open their mouths and out comes nonsense. It is the same with the radio and TV interviewers. |

Oh, good, coz the way you worded it I thought the purpose of this was to poke fun at somebody who has different beliefs than you do, specifically around a topic where there is clearly no definitive answer. |

The Earth proceeds in an elipse, not a circle, around the Sun. Nevertheless that's simple but what really complicates matters is the gravitational pull of the other planets. Plus the movement of the solar system through this arm of the Milky Way. There are gravitational forces in all directions - our solar system is part of a dwarf galaxy diving but captured on an angle by the Milky Way. All of which adds up to the Earth swinging by the Sun at a close perhelion every 600 years or so. That is when grapes grew in northern places and later by contrast, the Thames froze over. Aphelion. |
