1359453 2013-11-12 22:49:00 One theory as to why God inflicts suffering is to test the Faith of his followers.

God gave Free Will to test the followers, of course he already knows what they will do but they need to be tested so they can find out themselves.

What we can say, is that reason doesn't enter the equation.

1359454 2013-11-13 02:47:00 The Catholic Church is not a 'Church' it is the business infrastructure of the private bank of the Vatican
and could probably buy up the whole of Rome.

It is immensely wealthy and sticks to its parishioners' money like shlt to a blanket.

Tithe the rich,
tithe the poor,
tithe the dead
(what wills are for!),
tithe the young,
tithe the old
Tithing brings in loads of gold.

(With apologies to nobody).

The Catholic Church has negligible infastructure but plenty of superstructure, that is why
they don't pour aid or money into the Phillipines, which is more Catholic than Rome itself.

Of course at some stage the Pope will throw up a prayer or two for the Phillipines, and
from his poor South-American backgound I suspect he'd do a lot more if the Cardinals and
assorted money-baggers would let him.

I think he's a good man, and in time he may be the salvation of the Church of Rome, but I'm not holding my breath.

1359456 2013-11-13 16:26:00 The world's second largest economy off-loads insultingly small change on a storm-battered Philippines

The U.S. has promised $20 million in aid for victims of Supertyphoon Haiyan in the Philippines and has mobilized an aircraft carrier for the relief effort. Britain is also sending a warship and has pledged $16 million. The Vatican is dispatching $4 million, Japan $10 million and New Zealand $1.7 million. And China, the world’s most populous nation and second largest economy?

It’s handing over $100,000.

1359457 2013-11-13 17:04:00 Hi, I respect for what you believe in. However, I am a catholic and in no question of my faith in God, I believe too that our Catholic church serves as an instrument in extending the donations given by each one of us , aside of course by praying for the good of everyone especially those who are struggling right now. homelybelly (17192)

Of course, the other option is to go out there, see what needs doing to help them, and go and do it. Achieves a lot more than sitting at home praying. ;)

001 will be on his way as we speak.

That will make a difference.

Millions of people seem to rely of FB for their daily news these days so it must be true.. :-;
