1358587 2013-11-07 06:10:00 Slightly off topic, and to prove I'm not the android hater. Just purchased a galaxy S4. Running 4.2.2. Anyone want a bet to when kitkat will be available for it. plod (107)

Depends who you bought it off. If was a NZ carrier then most likely 1Q2014 if from parallel importer any time in the next month or two

1358591 2013-11-08 03:21:00 Does that fact that it constantly listens to everything you say not bother anyone? Cato (6936)
1358592 2013-11-08 03:46:00 Nah that's only on the lock-screen. It's not like it's there listening trying to record you, it's more a case of "When you hear a hotword, then start *actually* listening". Nothing else is sent to Google until that hotword, and that's *only* when the phone is unlocked on the Home Screen.

I've got the Google Experience Launcher now on my current phone (Ripped it from the Nexus 5 image), and it's actually really handy!

1358593 2013-11-08 05:11:00 Meh. Still too creepy for me.

Considering Google was wardriving, who knows what they could do. Or perhaps if they were asked by the GCSB or NSA or whoever, could they record you? Every word you say?

1358594 2013-11-08 05:24:00 Thought it was only the moto-x that listened all the time. Most other android needed the screen to be awake I thought/ psycik (12851)

No, the source code for the Launcher is available for you to look at.
They did wardriving so they could give you more accurate location using WiFi only without having to use GPS. Saves battery, locks on faster...

Take off your tin foil hat for a minute mate, you'll see the world is a lot nicer.
