The modern standard has a different flavour. Ethics in administrative body, elected or appointed, follows the rule that ethical behaviour is inversely proportional to the salary, while greed and a sense of entitlement are proportional to the square of the salary. (The idea that morals are inversely proportional to ability, while widely held and largely supported by visible evidence, fails to take account of the fact that some persons or groups having powerful abilities simultaneously have the morals of a starving rat.) |
