1358858 2013-11-07 17:47:00 What, you'd rather another company duplicated half their efforts considering Chorus already have FTTN?
Actually it doesn't work like that, the UFB project does not use the FTTN network at all and actually can't because it works completely differently.
A FTTN cabinet may have a few fibres feeding it but no way to integrate that into the eintirely new fibre network they are building for UFP.

Also whoever suggested someone else gets some of Chorus's share of the contract, you assume someone else would want it. The project so far has been all cost and no profit for everyone involved. Building a fibre network is expensive and the government priced it extremely conservatively and then force companies to stick to that price no matter what, there are even penalties for missing targets to worry about. I'd be surprised if anyone did much better than breaking even on this contract.

As I have said b4, how anything works with a bunch of idiots running things is a mystery.
It all works in a fashion in spite of the sheer incompetence of these blighter's.

I wonder how they do it in countries such as South Korea?

They obviously don't have any idiots there!

Having a population would help.

1358862 2013-11-11 01:43:00 The whole world, except my street well not till the end of next year and I wasn't prepared to wait so vdsl it is. And like others, very happy with it...

You're lucky! Our city streets are marked on the Chorus map as "not scheduled yet - check back after June 2016"
