1374652 2014-05-11 11:21:00 Does the laptop builtin speakers give a sound? Does the sound card get detected? It's normally built onto the motherboard. Check it out with Linux etc. On my Thinkpad laptop (2007) it doesn't have a enable/disable sound card. You can disable the microphone that's about via startup - memory I/O section. Nomad (952)
1374653 2014-05-11 23:03:00 Hi, thanks for those ideas. I'll have a much closer look though the BIOS tonight and also boot the laptop up with a Linux USB and see if the sound faults again.
Cheers,

If you didn't alter the BIOS settings. The sound was working before. Me think it is hardware or software, not BIOS related.
