1375169 2014-05-18 17:51:00 I bought a Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 motherboard and it has USB1 and USB2 which I want to use. Does each USB support 2 USB ports so what can I buy to get it to work. I should get 4 ports out of it but I don't know if it's USB 2 or USB 3? lostsoul62 (16011)

1375171 2014-05-18 20:52:00 It's most likely USB 2.0 and has 2 ports per connector, USB 3 is a longer connector with a keyed plug in the middle and USB 2 is just 2 rows of pins with one missing one one side at the end.
As Clive points out this should be in the motherboard manual which will also be available on the manufacturers website if you've not got a physical copy.

As to what you can buy, there are rear USB adapter plates with 2-3 ports that you can get or front panel devices like card readers that use them. Your cases front panel USB ports should also use either one of these or a USB 3 version. Most PC's have plenty of ports without them though so they often go unused.

1375172 2014-05-18 22:19:00 According to the site (www.gigabyte.co.nz) its got 2 available USB 3 ports on the mobo. So 1 USB 3 connector. And 2 USB 2 headers on the mobo (4 USB 2 ports)

And 4 USB 3 ports on the back (the blue ports), and 3 USB 2 (black)

1375173 2014-05-21 05:32:00 Connectors marked F_USB1 and F_USB2 are USB2.0 ports (4 ports). These are on the left edge of the motherboard
Connector marked F_USB30 is USB 3.0 (2 ports). This one is near the memory modules
