295934 2004-11-24 19:56:00 Just read on the Herald website that woosh are offering a 1gb plan for $20 bucks a month and a $99 modem. Thats cheaper than dial up. Ive heard conflicting opinions about woosh but for $20 surely you cant go wrong.

295935 2004-11-24 20:47:00 That all depends on whether you are in a woosh coverage area, and know you can stick to under 1 GB per month (which isn't a lot).

Looking at the woosh site (www.woosh.com), that $19.95 plan is only for the first 6 months, and then it goes up to the standard "Woosh Express 1" which is $39.95/month. The $39.95 is still $10 cheaper than the current Telecom equivalent speed/data plan if you have your tolls calls with Telecom.

But if you were considering woosh, and know that your data usage will come under 1 gig/month, then now is a good time to grab these offers especially with the discounted modem (I see that it is not mentioned on the woosh site, but just in the Hearld article).

Ah - that flash ad on the main page :D
It takes about 10 secs to get to the part about the $99 modem price and by that stage I was off the home page and browsing the Woosh for Home section where I couldn't see the special price mentioned (although, just looking again now, I can see it mentioned down in the small print at the bottom as well ...)

My excuse, need more coffee! :D

And you're locked into a 12month contract. Sooo $120 for first six months then $240 for the last six months totalling $360 for dialup speed internet.

295942 2004-11-25 04:52:00 Barnabas,

If your in the coverage and you dont want to game or voip, is good if you have a lappie its cheape mobility in the coverage area, which is continually growing.

I can stop my account any time I might look into that.

Since here apparently (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz).

I know in your books anecdotal evidence doesn't weigh more than marketting, but yeah.
