| 295632 | 2004-11-24 01:16:00 | I downloaded Avast anti-virus, when it goes to update, it says in a fault message that port 80 is down. What is port 80?? |

| 295633 | 2004-11-24 01:20:00 | Hi Bob, and welcome to PressF1 Port 80 is the internet port which your computer uses to access websites (ie. anything starting with http://). Often software communicates through Port 80 to access a "page" on it's website, to check if there are any updates, and if so, triggers their download. It could be that your firewall, if you have one, is stopping Avast from accessing the internet. Check your settings there. |

I think that means that the server that Avast anti-virus updates from might be down. Try again latter on & let us know how thing go > What is port 80?? HTTP Hope this helps :) Stu |
