295548 2004-11-23 23:43:00 Hi fellow F1ers,

Just wondering what you guys think Microsoft will incorporate into their next Internet Explorer, which should be IE7.

Since Firefox was released, I am sure Microsoft will try to dramatically improve their browser.

My predictions:

Built in extension manager
More flaws
Built in Search bar (using MSN Search)
Better integration with MSN, Outlook express and windows media player

Lets see what you guys can predit?

295550 2004-11-23 23:51:00 Improved integrated malware so you can get infected while offline. It already has this feature but it's not obvious to 90% of the worlds browser users :D Murray P (44)
295551 2004-11-23 23:57:00 I find it quite amazing IE6 has lasted this long... I remember in the Netscape days it was a new browser every couple of months or so... :D

I'm happy with Opera 7 so M$ can shove it :)

Saw someware yesterday that MS was not going bother to until Longhorn gets released..

They've already stated they don't see FireFox as a threat and that the features aren't actually things people want.

> Built in extension manager

Why? IE isn't Open Source, there isn't really much ability to write "extensions" etc for it - MS are hardly going to want that.

> More flaws

Goes without saying.

> Built in Search bar (using MSN Search)

Try typing something that isn't a domain name into the address bar - an MSN search. Or click the search button and you get a search sidebar.

They're already hooked so tightly together that one breaks the other. What "better integration" do you anticipate, or is that just some buzzword?

295554 2004-11-24 00:46:00 hmmm...The direction MS are heading is to "blur" the line between desktop and internet,Internet explorer and explorer will be one and the same....all leading to this dribble they see in the future where you will instead of buy software and install it,you will pay an access fee to ms and run it from there servers of all places.

Can anyone even imagine the scope of problems this is garenteed to generate?

MS are on drugs,Powerful drugs.....and i hope they crash and burn.

295555 2004-11-24 00:50:00 Hmm... its like the're trying to turn back the clock on OS evolution for monetary purposes - slapping a nice looking frontend on an old time-sharing system - next they'll want our CPUs ;) HadO (796)
295556 2004-11-24 00:53:00 The IE skins like Maxthon, Avant etc seem to do a fair amount of customising without IE being open. PaulD (232)
295557 2004-11-24 00:55:00 Longhorn will restict what you can do with your CPU. metla (154)
