| 295756 | 2005-05-07 08:54:00 | How are you going to capture / convert the analouge tapes?. I would recommend using a digital video camera. Either a Digital 8 where you can just place your hi8 tapes in the camera and transfer using the firewire or the pass thru (vivo) features on the camera to transfer via firewire to the computer. When you buy one of these products the usually throw in some video editing software but if your looking at buying some i would reckomend you go with Ulead Video Studio 8. Good thinking Lazydog. Fortunately I anticipated this and recently bought a Sony DCR HC30E which provides pass-through digitising of analogue. A friend tried it a couple of weeks ago and it worked. He previously bought an HC20E and discovered to his horror that it wouldn't input analogue. And Ulead seems to be the accepted standard for software. I'm told that it isn't bundled with writers anymore. Maybe they don't need to. |
