295613 2004-11-24 00:36:00 Hi all,
I just ran nortons speed disk on the D partition of one of my hard drives and it has corrupted the data on it. The data appears to be there but things like mp3s play with weird sounds through them like its under water. also there is close to 100 wallpapers that i have made that have weird colours over them or cannt be opened at all. ahh! what do i do? can i get this data back?

295614 2004-11-24 01:12:00 I think you have a problem. :_|

Was the Norton's older than your OS? It might not "know" how to deal with the files properly, and not know enough to not touch them.

This is always a risk with programmes which "make things better".

295615 2004-11-24 01:16:00 Humm, well its nortons system works 2003 and im running windows 200, its NTFS file system. Thanks for the responce. cold_fu5ion (3438)
295616 2004-11-24 01:45:00 If the coruption is confirmed, for your images there is a little programme around called PhotoRescue or ImageRescue or some such. AFAIK it will (try) to retrieve any images you point it at. Do a google for it, I'll have a rummage around in my backups for it later. Murray P (44)
295617 2004-11-24 05:06:00 Cheers Murray!
I'll look into that right now, the images are what i really want back as they are one of a kind pictures that I have made. I cant get most of my music back of cds that I have. Still, very frustrating.

295618 2004-11-24 05:41:00 I Just had a look at photo rescue and image rescue and they are both for rescuing images off a flash card from a digital camera. The files that I want back are on my hard drive and are corrupt, I can see the files and the have a size but they wont open as most apper to contain no data. cold_fu5ion (3438)
295619 2004-11-24 05:55:00 The software I had could retrieve images from anywhere. IIRC someone on PF1 put me on to it a year or so back, it was freeware or shareware at the time. Murray P (44)
295620 2004-11-24 06:05:00 In the meantime, cast you eye over the ones linked in this page (www.flashfixers.com). Murray P (44)
