296527 2004-11-26 01:23:00 How do I go about finding out if serial_core is enabled in the kernel? I'm running Mandrake10 official with 2.6.3-7 smp kernel. Any help would be extremely appreciated! ?:|

lsmod

:-)

Actually _in_ the kernel though?

Try cp /proc/config.gz ~/ && gunzip ~/config.gz && cat config | grep serial_core

296529 2004-11-26 05:36:00 Thanks for that.

Unfortunately.. modprobe has nicely informed me that there is no such thing. Damn. I'm now totally at a loss for how to continue, googlings not much help as far as I can see. I need that sucker so I can compile my modem driver. :( Meh..

Thx anyway.

Easier - depending on your system:

gunzip -c
gzcat
zcat

These all unzip a file on the fly and pass it to stdin

So:

zcat filename.gz |grep blah

Would work the same as above.
