2004-11-27 09:10:00 | Hi guys ^^ I have this old comp, about 5 yrs old and havent been reformated for 5 yrs too . So today I decided to finally reformat the comp, why I didnt do it before was because I did not have Win98Se OS in CHT (Chinese Traditional) but the comp still works and does a decent job of doing simple things . So what I want to do is that I want to put 2 Win98Se on that comp (one is ENG and one in CHT), that comp has 2HDDs, one's a 15GB and another is a 5GB, one OS on each HDD . The problem is that I dont know where to start to do this . . . I reformated both HDD and have the XOSL (the boot loader) . I know how to get the boot loader working but dont know how to get the 2 OS on the each HDD and have the boot loader doing its job . My previous attempt of doing this is by installing one OS on the 1st drive then install the bootloader follow by the second installation of the second OS on the 2nd HDD . But as we all know the second OS will just wipe out boot thingy >_< . So if any one could help, could some one give me some instructions on dual booting 2 Win98Se with 2HDD and with XOSL as the bootloader? I have done searches on the net but its always 98&2000 or 98&NT4 . 0 or 98withXp . . . >_< . . . . Thanks alot ^^ Jase Sen

2004-11-27 10:20:00 | The reason for the 2 Win98 is that my mum can use the comp too, she doesnt know much eng so CHT will be much easier for her . As for the ENG well . . . I only use it to test programs and other stuffs . Currently using XP but finding alot of program and games just doesnt work on XP even with that Compatibility Wizard :S . What sort of things will I be looking for in the Bios? Thanks

2004-11-27 10:23:00 | The general method is as far as I can remember: 1. Install your first copy of Windows. 2. Install XOSL-check it boots your first copy OK. 3. Use XOSL to hide the partition with the first copy of Windows on. 4. Install the second copy of Windows. I have not done this for a while but in the past have found XOSL to be a very good boot loader.

2004-11-27 23:43:00 | theres gotta be a app that lets you choose which language you wanna use when you start up windows, this would save the hassle and space of another os. i wonder if there is...... | Prescott (11) | |
2004-11-28 00:58:00 | Yep, its only because of that I'm installing 2 OS . . . >_< . . . . | Jase1 (459) | |
2004-11-29 02:04:00 | So far I manage to get the OS on the 1st HDD working and manage to get the second OS on the 2nd HDD and not to wipe out the mbr on the 1st HDD . So basically now I have both OS working and XOSL on . . . . Now I only got 1 problem . . . , the OS on the 2nd HDD doesnt detect my CD-writer and my cd drive, but it does detect it if I only have the 2nd HDD connected to the comp . The way I did this was I installed each OS on each HDD while the other HDD is unplugged . And to JohnD When I hide the 1st HDD partition with XOSL, the path for the second installation of the second OS still leads to the 1st HDD . . . , is that ok? I mean I could change it to install on the 2nd HDD though wouldnt that just be the same as before and have the 1st mbr wiped? Thanks
