296700 2004-11-26 09:35:00 Hello people,
I am new here so treat me nice please, if I appear stupid.
I have recently got cable through Telstraclear and am connected fulltime through my PC running Win98SE. The issue I have is that Win98SE doesn't seem to show a connected icon on the right hand side of the start bar and so I only know I am connected by orening IE or OE, and I have no way of checking the status of my connection or the usage happening without going to the Paradise Homepage and checking there. Does anyone know of a utility which will allow mw to watch my usage from my desktop
Thankyou,
Herindoors

296701 2004-11-26 09:56:00 You have a nice permanent connection through the Motorola modem which should hve the light "pcactivity" flashing. Nothing will show in taskbar etc. If you have ethernet card, flashing lights there will show the connection.

Maybe just enjoy !!!

Cheers T

296702 2004-11-26 11:48:00 How are you connected, by ethernet (LAN) or USB?

If an netwrok connection, and I'm not sure if 98 shows the network connection in the system tray, but in win2000 there is a little tick box at the bottom left of your network properties that says something like: Show network connection in system tray . This will give you the little monitors that flash when there is activity .

I have no idea how USB activity is monitored, never used it for internet connections .

Is that what you mean?

ToggleNETLIGHTS installs a task bar icons that shows you when there is network or Internet traffic occuring .

Indicators
The ToggleNETLIGHTS icon has two indicators . The top left icon lights up when there is incoming network or Internet traffic . The bottom right icon lights up when there is outgoing traffic .

Great for Cable and DSL Modems
If you once used a modem to connect to the Internet you may have been used to seeing traffic across the modem connection . But often when you switch to a cable or DSL modem this option is no longer available . ToggleNETLIGHTS restores the ability to see incoming and outgoing network traffic .

Great for the Office Too
If you're connected to a local area network (LAN) then ToggleNETLIGHTS is great for you too . ToggleNETLIGHTS will show all network traffic letting you tell the difference between stalled downloads and plain old slow traffic .

Works with all Versions of Windows
ToggleNETLIGHTS works with all versions of Windows including Windows95, Windows98, WindowsMe, WindowsNT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP .

296705 2004-11-26 22:17:00 Thank you BPJ,
I have downloaded the cute little lights and they are happily winking away at me as I type this.
Oh well better go and make a cuppa for my man to have while he reads the paper.
