You mean Stale?!
;-)

I run a Gentoo server on 2.6.9_rc4-love1 with no issues - Will update it to the latest -love shortly so it'll fix the USB so I can install a USB2.0 PCI Card and have my external HDD served off it :-)

297042 2004-11-30 01:46:00 But like Chill said, we want to give george "a true Linux experince"

Why stay out-dated for a workstation PC?.
Fair enough for a server, if it works fine.

Yay, I now have ut2003 working perfectly on Linux. Yay

True - Definately right there, however Gentoo adopts the total opposite, with several releases of GAIM being available for install and marked as stable before the main Gaim homepage has even been updated!!

Which one the end-user chooses will suit them obviously ;-)

Fus1_n:

Ive played UT, UT2k3 and Ut2k4 and love it - Who said Linux didnt do games :D

297044 2004-11-30 02:03:00 Chill. you need to try: GLtron, and deathmatch bunnies. Oh yeah, KBounce is neat aswell

I also have the orignal UT:GOTY (game of the Year Edition) installed on Jedo. But How do you install .umod files?

297045 2004-11-30 03:29:00 OK guys:

I have linux installed, and it boots. I might try and work out how to get a GUI, and I need to grab a driver for the NIC, but apart from that it does indeed work.

Cheers George

297046 2004-11-30 03:32:00 lucky, i cant even get yoper going, my boot loader doesnt appear:( but the strange thing is that it went when my xp os stuffed up and i had to format the drive and reinstall both windows and linux and now i cant get linux going, seems no one knows, no replies to my other thread so yeah, i might have to give up :( Prescott (11)

Bump up your thread dude....

george12:
Boot it and type:
cat /proc/pci

Give us the output so we know what sorta LAN Card its Emulating
Chilling_Silence (9)
297048 2004-11-30 04:18:00 It emulates a DEC 21140A 10/100.

Linux describes this as:

Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21140 [FasterNet] (rev 32)

So what drivers do I load?

Thanks

297049 2004-11-30 05:21:00 Google says (www.google.com) try the tulip or de4x5 driver (www.linuxquestions.org)

Try:
modprobe de4x5
modprobe tulip

Chill.

297050 2004-11-30 06:07:00 The server has neither, so how do I get them with no internet? george12 (7)
