| 296903 | 2004-11-28 04:49:00 | Hi godfather if the wireless is built in to the laptop -- ie you have it at "one end", presumably this is better (easier and cheaper) than having to do something at both ends ? Misty |

| 296905 | 2004-11-29 07:06:00 | I brought that laptop 1 month ago... I find it extremely slow mainly due to not enough ram. Matter of fact, even my P3 700mhz desktop boots faster than this thing. The video card is pretty slow too..but not sure if u play any games. I guess it isint a matter if u dont. :) Another thing I would complain is the battery. The battery life is not even enough for me to watch a movie on a dvd with earphones plug in. It shuts down after around 80% of the movie. |

| 296907 | 2004-11-29 20:39:00 | Noel Leeming has the Compaw R3211AP on their website for $1999.99 If I haven't remember wrongly, aren't the expansion bases only about $400 RRP anyway? |

It seems like Noel Leeming are selling the expansion bases for $499.99, which means, in fact, your not saving yourself any money by buying in package at all. Could negoiate a deal with the salesperson though ;-) Do you shop at the Wairau Park Mega Store? or Albany? |

| 296909 | 2004-11-30 07:30:00 | >>>Do you shop at the Wairau Park Mega Store? or Albany? The place I have been looking is Wairau Park Mega Store... the salesman there was very knowledgeable and good to talk things over with. He said that the laptop is $2000 and the expansion base plus wireless keyboard and wireless mouse $500. All this talk about lack of speed has got me concerned enough to hold off for a bit and look at other units. One thing i had checked on was the speed of the hard disk - apparently it runs at 4,200rpm - which compares with about 7,500 or thereabouts for your standard PC, I believe. This shows a big diff. Speed is certainly not everything but combined with the heat problem and the limited life of batteries etc, I want to think this through a bit more. Thanks very much for your comments godfather, Blue_face and others. It is great not to jump into things without having a much fuller picture. Misty :) :) |

Personal experience tells me to discuss and find out about the product at Wairau Park and negoiate a deal at Albany ;-) There is no doubt that a laptop will be very slow compared to desktop, but for many, the portablilty of a laptop is beyond value. If you don't need the portability, there is absolutely no need for you to get a laptop. I see you need to 'move' around the house... so this is up to you, depending on your house structure, etc. |

| 296911 | 2004-12-02 06:45:00 | Hey Guys n Gals, A friend of mine is looking at getting one of these for her brother who is a student. | 296912 | 2006-02-16 04:31:00 | Brought one last August still cannot get the DVDRW to work, found blog seems like it is a very common problem with even MS trying to fix it with windows fixits, didn't fix mine though its awarrenty job. Also touch pad goes haywire randomly other than that brilliant graph card, heavy power draw so less than one hour on batterys and screen at half brightness on battery power. I got mine new from Noel leemings for 1400.00 list price was 2999.00. | Bart4 (6462) | ||
