2004-11-27 02:38:00 | I was hoping to check out george12's "Unofficial F1" IRC Server at some time ;-). I haven't used IRC before :O. Using GAIM (which i am told does work with IRC & I can see does have an IRC account setup option) - I am not sure where exactly i am supposed to put the info in??? ?:| ?:| ?:| Any help appreciated please on where i put the info, mainly the "IP Addy" & "Channel name"??? Details for Unoffical F1 IRC Server are: Server: irc.jgi.co.nz IP Address: 222.152.55.106 Channel name: IRCF1 Port: 6667 (Standard IRC port) GAIMs Setup Options: Screenname: Server: Password: Alias: Port: Encoding: Username: Realname: So where do i put these details: IP Address: 222.152.55.106 Channel name: IRCF1 Cheers :-)

2004-11-27 03:25:00 | Might be better if u get a program like Mirc, Virc, or a real IRC client program. Or u might need the IRC plugin for aim for IRC to work. How do I join a channel with the IRC plugin? A. First create the account, then sign on. After you have signed on, you can use File->Join A Chat on the buddy list to join a channel. In any window, either a conversation or a chat, in which your IRC user is the sender, you can also use /join to connect to a new channel.

2004-11-27 03:51:00 | Hi Spacemannz, oops i forgot to include the top one: GAIMs Setup Options: Protocol - where there is the option to choose IRC Screenname: Server: Password: Alias: Port: Encoding: Username: Realname:< BR> So it is obviously possible to use IRC in GAiM, it was a little different setting up ICQ too, i think, like the username is the actual user no . ? or something like that? I presumed that somebody here would be using it (GAIM) though?? I know its possible to use GAIM, as Chill recommended it to me to use for IRC . Cheers

2004-11-27 03:57:00 | Umm ok . ip would most probably go under server . U havent been there before so u wont have a password until u login . port = 6667 . Username I would say is your nick in IRC . Dont worry about encoding . Thats not for IRC . Realname - anything or leave it blank The channel name = you most probably have to type it in after u login to the server might be /join #channelname, but whatever this server is on it maybe different

2004-11-27 04:55:00 | Yup nick is anything u want Jzep... most nicks , or servers dont allow certain characters tho, and some servers also have a limit on how long your nick can be. I think this maybe 16 characters... Servers if u can register your nick, if it (a nick) has already been registered, you cant use it You'll soon know this.
