297640 2004-11-28 23:15:00 Managed to sort out the problem with the HDD the \windows\system32\config\system file is corrupt.

The last time we tried to start the computer and run Win XP Home in repair mode, the people who own the computer did not know the admin password. Is there a generic password that M$ have not told us about to be able to access repair mode.

Or did the PC Company use the same admin password for all their PCs

297641 2004-11-28 23:24:00 isnt the admin password left blank, and you just press enter or something,, my admin acount doesnt have a password i think, it might pay to use rock xp to find it. Prescott (11)
297642 2004-11-28 23:25:00 normally unless changed by the most setups leave the admin password blank try just pressing enter when asked for the admin password beama (111)
297643 2004-11-28 23:26:00 Most passwords I would say are entered (if u use one) on installation of XP.

I dont think shops would put passwords in , since I doubt that you wld have to ask for it, if u brought a system from a shop!

297644 2004-11-29 03:13:00 Is there another user with admin rights that you can log into? If so, that is very simple, just use that, can click "remove password" on the other admin account. mejobloggs (264)
