| 297364 | 2004-11-28 19:36:00 | i just reinstalled my computer to xp i also installed msn 6.2 on it when i log in and launch my msn, another older version gets launched first then the new one would then sign it out and log in i'm gussing the old one is the one that comes with xp which i didn't remove or upgrade is there a way to get rid of that? or upgrade it properly... |

Go here www.kellys-korner-xp.com Then the bottom menu Utilities for XP. Select the right arrow and scroll down to disable or remove Messenger from Windows and OE. Then click on click here to download your selection. Then run it. |

| 297366 | 2004-11-29 02:22:00 | Much easier way is to just to remove Windows Messenger manually, click Start, Run and enter the following command: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove Note: This will prevent a long delay when opening Outlook Express if you have the Contacts pane enabled. To prevent this, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express Right click in the right pane and select New, Dword value. Give it the name Hide Messenger Double click this new entry and set the value to 2. |
