297459 2004-11-28 07:56:00 This xp machine has been infected with about a dozen viruses and after scanning with AVG, all viruses seems to be removed; that's great!

But, now I'm unable to establish the 'dial-up Internet connection' - error 711; I think it has something to do with the remote access has not been started.

Any idea?

297460 2004-11-28 07:59:00 try control panel/admin tools/services

Go to remote access connection manager/general tab. See what the service status says

There is no Remote Access Connection Manager installed. When I tried to enable it, error says that it is unable to enable this service. Error 1068.

297464 2004-11-28 08:31:00 I would say something like a virus / trojan or spyware is still around and may still be running. Maybe in the background.

I would do an online scan somewhere for viruses/trojans to make sure no more viruses or trojans are lurking in your system. And do a scan for spyware too.

297465 2004-11-28 08:55:00 Do the extra scans but, the dialup had probably been altered/hijacked by one of the critters that have since been removed, along with some vtal components. Try reinstalling your dialup networking connection (DUN). Murray P (44)

Murray P, how do I reinstall this dialup networking connection? Do I need the install CD?
