| 297182 | 2004-11-28 06:13:00 | A fruitless search for a mainboard without an on-board sound chip has made me forget about the sport section of the news. Are there any boards which do not come with integrated sound? Where abouts in NZ can they be purchased. I know know that the sound quality from the integrated chips will probably be "sufficient for music and casual gaming" but that is not the point of my wanting to choose my own. Anyone have any advice? |

| 297183 | 2004-11-28 06:35:00 | I doubt if there are any modern mobos without sound now. They're either 6 or 8 channel. Unless you find a really old one, which wouldn't be worth updating / using. The only thing you can do is disable onboard and get a standalone soundcard. |

| 297185 | 2004-11-28 07:46:00 | Since the majority of people just use on-board sound it probably isn't economical for them to produce a mobo for the specialist user. If your not going to worry about on-board sound then don't. Just find the best mobo that suits you then figure out whether the on-board sounds are good enough or not. |
