298092 2004-11-30 00:36:00 I have recently purchased the Envy24 PCI sound card. xh8218.from DSE.

I have physically installed the sound card and on startup the computer
picked up that there was a new devise there.

I inserted the CD disk supplied with the card and selected install
driver. This installed four files in C:\program Files\Envy24. These
files were:

e24dylib.dll
e24rdib.dll
EnmixCPL
Uninst.isu

Problems:

I have no sound.
When I look in System Information under Problem devices it displays
Multimedia Audio devise which shows the error code as the drivers for
this devise has not been installed..
Audio Deck appears in the start menu. When I double click on this
nothing appears to happen.
In Control panel under sounds and audio I get the messages no audio and
no playback devices.

298094 2004-11-30 07:38:00 As far as I know there is an on board sound card on my motherboard . I have gone into System Information on my computer . In Problem Devices it lists Multimedia Audio Controller with an error message that the drivers for this device have not been installed .

I am not sure how to go about disabling the sound card .

I have an AMD Processor .

298095 2004-11-30 07:48:00 OK. U have to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard soundcard. It could be conflicting.

Not too sure how to get into your BIOS, BUT you usually u press the Delete , F1, F2, or maybe F10 key to get into the BIOS. It SHOULD say something on your bootup/post screen (when u boot your system up), on which key to press for BIOS/Setup.

Find an entry to do with Audio. Or maybe Onboard sound. Disable it, then save the settings in BIOS. Reboot. See if the new soundcard works then.
