297977 2004-11-29 22:40:00 On Windows XP platform (SP2), IE does not display the Dialup Connection window when I try to load IE (I've done something to upset it). I can connect normally using Outlook Express, MailWasher or the desktop dialup icon, so the 'connections' setup for the ISP is OK. (Always use default connection, etc)

If I go into 'programs' > IE and try the 'setup.exe' file, I get the same type of error, the homepage starts to load but indicates that it can't be found and the dialup window does not display. I can get the dialup window by one of the other means and then connect. Once connected, i can browse normally.

I tried 'add/remove windows components' from control panel, etc where i removed the tick against IE (apply>OK) and then added the tick again.

I tried 'never dial a connection' and then resetting with 'always dial my default connection'.

Should I delete the IE folder in the 'programs' file and then try to re-install from the winxp disk (How?) and what should I do about the updates from the XP SP2 disk?

297979 2004-12-01 14:08:00 What version of IE do you have?

Option 2 install firefox 1 much nicer.

I ask because if you dont have the latest (IE) you may be able to fix the caulender buy upgrading/dating it.

Hopefully some of the very wise will come and give you an easier fix.

I'm in a similar position, except with Firefox. When I click on Firefox my homepage comes up, but not the dial up connection. Instead, dial-up tab shows on my taskbar in grey, and I have to click on that to make dialup appear on screen. It's almost as if it is behind the Firefox on my screen.

Does anything appear on your taskbar?

In Internet Options > Connections, have you tried " Dial whenever a network connection is not present"?

297984 2004-12-01 19:52:00 Hi All

I have tried "Dial whenever ........" and i do have other options for connecting as I mentioned in the original post. It is just that IE should show the internet connection window on activation.
