2004-11-29 22:03:00 | Err most computer people I talk to these days say OY USE FIREFOX / Opera. And I say no :) I gave firefox another go the other day, installed some extensions and its not bad. But err it takes too long to load. Click IE and it loads quick as. Mate said it wasn't optimised for any os thats why and another dude said something like /fastdetect or whatever. Anyway err a mate said you could cache it or something but yea I just wanna know how to speed up the firefox load time if you can at all. Cause err at this point I ain't wasting time like waiting 5/6 seconds for firefox when IE6 loads in 2

2004-11-29 22:16:00 | shot. Now how do we do the same with firefox :) | Kibito (623) | |
2004-11-29 22:18:00 | Why dont you use the four second difference to do other tasks. There are lots of jobs out there that people say will only take a second.

2004-11-29 22:23:00 | You could make a shortcut in your startup folder if you use XP just drag the shortcut there and drop it in | Rob99 (151) | |
2004-11-29 22:26:00 | errr yea but that'll just load it up. I'm actually trying to cache it somehow so it stays loaded even when it's not physically open. | Kibito (623) | |
2004-11-29 22:31:00 | I dont know if that is possible, but I will be keeping an eye here to see if it is. | Rob99 (151) | |
2004-11-29 22:31:00 | How long exactly does it take to launch? Its only a few seconds isn't it? If its more then it most probally isn't firefox that is the issue.

2004-11-29 22:34:00 | errr actually I was wrong. Took about 14 seconds to load the first time. Then I closed and reopened and it took about 3 seconds.

2004-11-29 22:34:00 | From users.tns.net Speed up load time Firefox is slow to load initially on Windows XP. You can speed this up a bit by using XP's built in prefetcher. Simply right-click on the Firefox icon you use to start the browser. Add the text /Prefetch:1 to the end of the line in the target field. The whole line should look something like the following: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /Prefetch:1
