297855 2004-11-29 20:36:00 having read mail I highlight to delete but nothing happens. Curt message says 'you can't do this you have an error." If I attempt again I get double the number of emails in the list. Can move to a topic folder but get the same message even though it's done it. Help ! tonyk (2551)
297856 2004-11-29 20:58:00 Most likely due to a corrupted deleted items folder.
Close OE
Go to Start/Find or search/Files and Folders
Search for deleted.dbx and when it is found right click and delete it.

Open OE and it will create a new deleted items folder which will be empty and should now allow you to delete messages.

297857 2004-11-29 21:31:00 The email itself could be corrupt IE a Virus in it.

If you have the Preview Pane turned on, turn it off

View --> Layout

This will allow you to delete the email

Thanks for your help. But it didn't work. The read emails go to the deleted items folder, which can be deleted and reinstated, as advised, but when I return to the inbox they all still remain and are clickable to open. Can I delete the inbox folder and go through the procedure again ?
many thanks for your help.

297859 2004-12-02 08:04:00 Never heard of mail deleted from the inbox and showing in deleted and then appearing in the Inbox again.

Yes you can do the same with the Inbox, search for inbox.dbx and delete it.
Be aware though that you will loose all mail in the inbox so if there is anything there you want to keep transfer to another folder first.
